From Britain, an Appeal for 'Plain English'

The Britain-based Plain English Campaign was started by an informally-educated Briton Chrissie Maher in 1961, and being continued by his son George, and John Wild, a science teacher who joined him after a career in the chemical industry. They are trying to persuade organizations in English speaking countries, to communicate with the public in plain and simple language.
