The youngest games parlour in town -- The Alleygator -- is celebrating its first birthday today. Touted as the one-stop hangout for all indoor games' buffs, the entertainment centre situated in the cellar of the Navketan complex in Secunderabad, has special celebrations lined up for the big event.
"We have special gifts lined up for the occasion," says Piyush K Dak, managing director of The Alleygator, part of the Bombay-based Navketan group. Prizes include return tickets to Singapore, Nokia handsets, Magic sim cards, caps, music CDs, watches, soft toys, wallets, table clocks, dinner vouchers at ITC Kakatiya Sheraton etc. Every customer spending over Rs 300 would be given a coupon and winners will be decided by a lucky draw.
The entertainment centre, spread over 7,000 sq ft, was opened by Piyush's mother Pushpa Dak last year on Mother's Day. Intially beginning with bowling, pool and snooker, it added videogames and a cafetaria.
Now, Dak is planning to expand the additional 8,000 sq ft area lying vacant. "We might expand the present games and add new games such as indoor cricket (which alone requires a minimum of 7,000 sq ft) laser games, shooting games, discotheques and pubs etc, to make it a complete family entertainment centre. We also planning to introduce The Allegator in Calcutta and Nagpur," he says.
But, as of now, the Alleygator has special combos for its customers. A game of bowling, plus five video game coins, a coke and a burger would cost Rs 130 during happy hours (10 am to 3 pm on weekdays) and Rs 150 during regular hours. Another combo includes four games of bowling, 10 video games, two hours of pool/snooker, four soft drinks, four softees, and two dairy milk chocolates for Rs 700 during happy hours and Rs 750 during regular hours.
